Sometimes Flat Coated Retrievers are like potato chips-you can’t have just one.

Lora and I had Racer (Sterling Omega’s Affirmed) join our family on Halloween Day 1997. We had been thinking of getting another Flat Coat. We weren’t sure about a puppy due to our schedules. However, we knew that there was a special "more mature" Flat Coat out there, so we visited with Adrienne Ayles and Peachie Orton at a club meeting.

Peachie mentioned she might have a Flat Coat for us to meet and we could come out and see her the following week. We went to the Orton’s home and were greeted by two humans and at least six Flat Coats. It was there and then we met Cheers.

Cheers is a beautiful five year-old retired champion with big brown eyes and a sweet personality. Her favorite activities are lying in bed with us, being told how pretty she is and smiling. Don’t be fooled by the pretty face-she can fetch a bumper and retrieve to hand with the best of them.

Cheers finished her championship with Peachie on Mother’s Day 1995 at Rio Hondo in Southern California. Cheers is a very graceful Flat Coat and has great movement and a superb coat. She moves effortlessly and floats like a ballerina when she moves.

They get along very well, get into a lot of mischief together and provide both of us with twice the pleasure we expected.

We are blessed by having two of the best companions we could have ever hoped for-and now we know it’s true that you can’t have just one!
